| Tuesday, August 15, 2006. We have had some difficulty with
the Provincial Parks in Ontario. Where they say reservations recommended, we
have called by way of pay phones and we get a machine saying to leave a
message and they will get back to us. When using a pay phone we cannot do
that. What we did a lot was, during our travels, if we see an interesting spot, we ask the proprietor if they have RV parking and that we do not need Hydro/Water/Dump, and so far they have all been accommodating. Some of these have been English River Outfitters, White River Cabins and Batchawana Bay Motel & Restaurant. The views have been great and so were the people who ran the businesses. |

| Saturday, August 19, 2006.
As we were filling up with water before going to a boondocking spot on "Lac des Milles Lac", our
friends "the Quebec Connection - Judy and Pierre", spotted us on
the side of the highway. What a
surprise, again. I think this is the 9th. time we have met while circling
north America. The world can be so
small. This will be the last time we see them until our next planned visit. We will
miss them but will meet again. We are a couple of hours west of Thunder Bay at a lake called "Lac des Milles Lac" and Denis is trying to get some pickerel but the weather is tricky here. The water gets too rough for the canoe or it's raining. But it's a huge lake with hundreds of bays and islands and very scenic and it feels like you're boating from one lake to another. It's sad but we have been in Ontario now for at least a week and we have found there are not a lot of garbage can's around and if there are, they are full, whereas other Provinces and States had garbage can's all over and they are bear proof to boot. |

Thunder Bay, Red Rock, Marathon and Sault St Marie |
| Tuesday, August 22, 2006. After leaving the Thunder Bay CG we went
to Red Rock. Denis remembered going there with his dad and he remembered it
to be a very picturesque town. We ended up spending the night at Red Rock
Marina, there is no RV Park here so the proprietor was nice enough to let
us stay. They said they would like to make it an RV Park
some day. This is a paper mill town and was a planed community. A town
with an escarpment of high cliffs behind it which I believe it was all red
at one time. Denis hates for this trip to end. I think if we had a bigger trailer he would say lets do this for a while. |
 A memorial for Terry Fox who inspired the nation with his dream-his marathon of hope - a cross-Canada run to raise money for Cancer research. What a great memorial in Thunder Bay's visitor's center. It is overlooking the Sleeping Giant, and the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park is about 15 kms off the highway, too far to go only to find out it's full. |

 On August
24, 1914 Lieutenant Harry Coleburn, of the 94th Fort Garry Horse &
Canadian Army, purchased a black bear cub at White River, Ontario, while
on route overseas. He named her Winnie after his hometown, Winnipeg.
Winnie became the soldiers' mascot and was left in the care of the London
Zoo, in Britain, on December 9th, 1914, while Lieutenant Colebourn served in France, In
1919, he gave her to the Zoo for permanent keeping where she was watched
and loved by many, including author A.A. Milne who wrote the book on
Wiinie-the -Poo.
Winnie lived until she was 20 years old and they had a formal funeral for
her because she was loved by so many. |

We found out Tom's great grandfather's name is Noah Timmins and he laid out the first plan for the City of Timmins and the City was named after him. It's a small world since we once lived in Timmins. |

Sudbury, Ontario - Our Final Stop |
| Friday, August 26, 2006. We are in Sudbury at Monique and Jim's place. We had a really good visit with them and have talked their ears off with our tales of our travels. They have made us feel really at home and now have gone to their camp on Manitoulin Island and we are house sitting for them. Sudbury reminds us of Timmins except 3 times bigger. We discovered there is a small farming area here which pleases me now all I have to do is see if there is a farmers market here. It feel like we have come home but I think a large part of that is due to the open arms welcome we have received from our host and hostess. Thanks is not enough but thank you, Monique and Jim. People in the north are still the greatest. |

| Wednesday, September 13, 2006. Well, we have now done the
full circle and arrived at our friends Denise and Winfred's home in St.
Catharines, they have been like family to us. It is nice to be in a familiar area after travelling for a year
and every street a mystery. St. Catharines has been our home for the
last 20+ years and it has been a good home town to us. We will miss our
friends but I hope they will visit us. After all we are just 301.8 kms.
away. This time our small home on wheels is not with us as we are here to
move
our furniture and car back to Sudbury. We have travelled a total of 40,600 kms, and visited 19 States , 5 Provinces and 1 Territory. Stayed overnight in 129 different locations. Denis quit smoking and lost 12 lbs. I lost 7 lbs. according to my doctor. I do not see it. Met a lot of fabulous people with hopes of continued friendships. Got to know my husband better and it is still "for better or for worse". He did a great job of driving. Life is good. We
thank the Lord we made it home safe. |
December 19, 2006.We will move into our new home in February. This means moving in the dead of winter.  Hopefully this will be home for the next 20 years and as memorable as the last 20 years in St. Catharines. We made some good friends there and we hope to see them here in the North. |
