Thursday, May 11, 2006. We have decided to stay at a campground at Lake Louise in Banff National Park. We were both here years ago and memories are not quite the same. We had dinner at the Fairview dining room of the Chateau Lake Louise. What an experience to have a chef cook for you while trailering.  The prices were equivalent to a restaurants in Kaslo! and the Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort. We did like the food and atmosphere at Ainsworth and the company (tout la gang) was exceptional.

Friday, May 12, 2006. The scenery is great but the Lake Louise - Banf National Park  campground is awful.  Price was to high and it needed maintenance.  We left to-day for Jasper National Park. Banff NP and Jasper NP are joined together by the Icefields Parkway. There was a view around every corner.  More rocks but with snow on it. There are so many beautiful sites that it is hard to decide what to show you.

 

 

 



 

 




 
 
We went on an excursion in a Snow Bus to see and experience walking on the Athabasca Glacier in the Columbia Ice field and yes, it was cold and a storm went through while we were there. When we got back to our trailer it was storming.  I could not wait to get back down to lower elevation. Below is the first Bombardier model built in Quebec for a doctor so that he could travel the rural country side. It had skis though.
Saturday, May 12, 2006. We found it to cold to be camping so we have decided reverse our trip through the Rockies and take the Alaskan Highway up to Alaska and the Casiar Highway on the way back. This way, we can do some camping/fishing in warmer weather because we have noticed the lakes are still frozen.

Sunday, May 13, 2006.  We have left Grande Cache, Muskeg River campsite today. Temp was 5 below, Denis said we are equivalent to being 1500 kilometres, north of Toronto, or the same latitude as the mouth of the Hudson's Bay. It was daylight until about 10:00 p.m. last night. So far this is the highest North we have been. We have left the higher elevations of the Rockies and are now driving the foothills of Alberta heading towards Dawson Creek in B.C.
