October 26, 2005. Nashville here we come. Stayed at Wal-Marts in Crossville last night. It was just above 34 degrees. The heat kicks in at 60 degrees, this is still cold. Denis use to complain when I set the thermostat at 72 degrees. I think we should have insulated the trailer before leaving. |
Oct. 27, 2005. It's warmer here. Around 60
degrees at 6:00 p.m. and we are in another time zone. One hour back.
This is only the second time we have had electricity, what a luxury.
Plus this campground has Wifi so I can finally send email from our trailer. We are in Nashville now and booked to go to a concert on Saturday at the Grand Ole Opry. I am so excited. It's a live televised show. For you to see it you would have to have a satellite. I guess. |

October 28, 2005. We drove along "Music Row" this morning. This was where most of the famous songs were written and then recorded. You could almost smell the money. |
![]() This is the Ryman Auditorium, the famous former home of the Grand Ole Opry (1943-1974). Before the Opry years, the worn pews and stage had seen religious revivals, jazz recitals, operas, political debates, boxing matches, livestock sale, ect.. It was first built by Captain Ryman as the "Union Gospel Tabernacle for Rev. Samuel P. Jones in 1892 for $100,000. Later it cost $8.5 million in 1994 for restoration for a performance hall. Acoustics in the Ryman are said to be second only to the Mormon Tabernacle, surpassing even Carnegie Hall.
|
![]() This is a bar on the corner of Broadway and Fifth St. (Legends Corner). Next to the Rymans. A lot of would be stars sat in here. It had great music. If you go all along Broadway St., there are a number of bars with all kinds of country music. If you wanted to spend a day drinking and listening to country music this is the place to be except you would need to book a hotel room on that strip so you would not need to drive. We would have loved to spend the night here but the drive would have been a killer. Tomorrow night will be at the Grand Ole Opry and it will be a bus service
there and back.
|
![]() There was all kinds of neat signs along Broadway St. We also had some good ribs at Jakes.

October 29, 2005....Saturday night at the Grand Ole Opry. A dream come true. There was a lot of personal rapport and some very touching Gospel music. The show was very professional. You could tell the host for each segment was at ease on stage. We had seats on the Mezz but it was the front row. We did have a good view. I brought my binoculars but I did not need it. |
![]() Do I look happy???
|
![]() Everyone in the show was fantastic. We will remember this for the rest of our life. It is like a dream come true. Anyone who like country music should go to this.
|
![]() This was Denis's favourite. Brad Paisley. He was good but everyone was good to me. I really liked Rhonda Vincent. She had a great voice.
