Eagle Depth / Fish finder - Cuda 242 or 300 model - Eagle WEB site

I bought this fish finder because it was the smallest portable unit I could find, at the time. It came with a small case and it works with only 8 - penlight batteries (AA's)

What I found problematic about this unit was that it would change scales, when you go from one depth range to another, BUT oftentimes, it would bounce back and forth between the two scales to the point it would cover the whole screen with lines. ie: When it changes scale, lets say from 20 ft range to the 40 ft range, it displays a solid vertical line to indicate the changed scale. But if you happen to be fishing at the depth that it triggers this change of scale, the unit bounces back and forth, changing scales from 20 to 40 ft and back so often, it simply doesn't stop and it ends up covering the whole screen, until you either go into deeper or shallower water..

Here's what it looks like while the unit decides which depth scale to choose. It's bouncing between 10 and 20'.

It's very maddening and it will last until the unit goes out of the depth it uses to change depth ranges.

Aside from that, this unit does work well for lakes less than 80 feet, and the batteries last quite a long time. I use it for about 10-20 days solid with two sets of batteries... 16 - AA's in total.
