Thursday, May 4, 2006. We will cross the U.S./Canada boarder to-day by way of the Kootenai National Forest, United States into the South Kootenay Bay, Canadian area to visit an old friend of Denis's in Kaslo, B.C. |
Saturday, May 6, 2006. As much as we enjoyed being in the United States it's really nice to be back home. Canada will always be my home. I guess it's like a paternal thing. Our friend Vern has been a good host and made sure we were comfortable. He is really busy with building his Condominiums, marina, bar/restaurant but has managed to fit us in to his busy schedule. |
![]() We drove into Kaslo, B.C. and looked down the hill and low and behold. This is the new condo complex that Vern is building along with his Beach Marina with restaurant/bar. What a setting. He's building a small town. Good luck and keep up the good work, Vern. |
![]() Vern took us on a boat ride on the lake and this rainbow just happen to show up for a picture.

![]() We at the very end of the point. Can you see Denis's red canoe/truck?

The SS Moyie is one of the oldest passenger sternwheeler. Built in 1898, for the Canadian Pacific Railway, in Toronto. The Moyie steamed on Kootenay Lake until 1957. She was the last passenger-carrying sternwheeler operating in Canada. |
![]() Tout la gang. Fun was had by all. Hey, who is that sly little guy who snuck his arm on my shoulder???? Vern was going to cook us a nice steak for dinner but plans changed because his brother and that strange guy with his arm on my shoulder showed up so he treated us to dinner at Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort instead. Very good meal. |
Tuesday, May 9, 2006. Will be leaving here to-morrow and heading up to Jasper National Park. |
Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Poor Denis, he already
misses the American highways. We just got out of the famous "Rogers
Pass" and there is a long downhill with a grade of 5-6% and no signs to
indicate this plus the highway itself is old. We have camped for the night at Campers Haven RV, Tenting and Motel. |
