Friday, August 26, 2006. We are in Sudbury at Monique and Jim's place. We had a really good visit with them and have talked their ears off with our tales of our travels. They have made us feel really at home and now have gone to their camp on Manitoulin Island and we are house sitting for them. Sudbury reminds us of Timmins except 3 times bigger. We discovered there is a small farming area here which pleases me now all I have to do is see if there is a farmers market here. It feel like we have come home but I think a large part of that is due to the open arms welcome we have received from our host and hostess. Thanks is not enough but thank you, Monique and Jim. People in the north are still the greatest.

Their smoking...fish that is.

Now tell me these guys do not look like angels. Mischievous ones. Actually they are great kids.

What a beautiful family. Almost a baseball team.

Sunday, September 3, 2006. Rane, Amy, Luc and Andre came to see us. The boys spent the day at Science North and the girls went shopping. It was so nice to see them and wow how the boys have grown. I am sorry I did not get a family picture. We were just so happy to see them we forgot.
Monday, September 4, 2006.We have nearly come full circle and have been enjoying our visit with Monique and Jim and family. My dad's birthday is on September 11, 2006 and he will be 92 years old, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD.
Friday, September 8, 2006. Well the word is out. Tomorrow we will sign a rental agreement in Capreol. Capreol will be our new home town. It is in the Northerly part of Sudbury plus we hear there is fishing and hunting just outside our door! Plus this town is a CN Rail headquarters.  I can walk to the train station and go anywhere that CN goes to in Canada. Now how many places can do that. This will be a start of a new life style. It seems like a nice friendly area and is close to another friendly area Hanmer where our new friends Monique and Jim live.

Tuesday, September 12, 2006.  We visited with my father for his 92nd birthday and spent time with family in Timmins and Iroquois Falls. We had a great trip and are now planning to be in St Catharines for the next week as we finalize our move back into the great north.

We have been asked to put a picture of our new home on the web, so here it is. We are renting this house and have a great landlord/landlady. This house is just around the corner from downtown Capreol (North of Sudbury but part of New Sudbury). This town is maybe around 1,600 residence and boast of a fantastic fish fry every Friday, at the Legion. As soon as we can we will have to attend. This house has a lot of built in features e.g. cupboards/shelves/ironing board and almost new fridge/stove plus includes washer and dryer. It is also a warm home which is important in the North. It usually takes me a bit to get comfortable in a new residence. It is now a Month later and I have settled in and feel comfortable. The house has carpet and I hate carpet but I know this is only short term until we can find our own home. We had also intended to use only what we had in the trailer (and not unpack our boxes) in our new living quarters but as all good plans are subject to change. We had no telephones in the trailer then Denis got a job in down-town Sudbury and needed work clothing/computer equipment/stationary so we ended up opening a lot of the boxes and it was like Christmas. I have slowly removed some of my own clothing (it feels nice to have almost new stuff).
Does Denis look happy here....I think our living back in the North will be a better quality of life for our retirement.

We have already met some really nice people in the area. Cindy and her husband run a dairy farm and this was my first buggy ride to the pumpkin patch to get our Halloween pumpkin. What a pair of beautiful horses.

Then there was Oct.13th. (Friday) our first snowfall.

We visited dad and Denis's Uncle Don, it was really nice to spend the day there with them. We will have to do that again, soon.

December 19, 2006. We have bought a house and will take possession in February. That means moving in the dead of winter. No fun. There is wall paper in every room which we will strip and paint before moving in.
December 31, 2006. After a lot of celebrating and visiting with family and friends we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2007.

January 11, 2007. Today is my oldest brother's 70th. birthday. It almost seems like yesterday we celebrated dad's 80th. birthday. Wow, age happens. Happy Birthday, Jack.

Happy 70th. Birthday.

May 12, 2007. Win and Denise surprised Denis by meeting us at the Bas Pro. Shop. Then Cindy and Laurent surprised both of us with a visit at the Bass Pro Shop. Talk about a small world and just can't get enough of that shopping. I ended up with bell's palsy to-day. Denis called me his own "chretien", it was not funny.

Sept. 02, 2007. After Emelda moved in we took her touring around Sudbury to see some of the sites. Below is a beautiful boardwalk called the "

The "Ramsey Lake Boardwalk" is 2 Km. walk from McNaughton Terrace, past Sudbury Boating Club, St. Joseph Health Centre, to Science North.

This is just one of the many walking trails in and around the Sudbury region. We are anxious to check them all out.

The boardwalk is anchored onto the rocks.

This is a sculptured arch,  depicting the miners hard work.

Sept. 11, 2007.  We are having a celebration with dad for his 93rd. birthday. Denis uncle Don and Denis mom has joined us.

Happy 93rd. Birthday, Dad.

Sept. 25, 2007.. We visited dad last week. Luckily Danny allowed up to park our camper in front of Custom Concrete which allowed up to visit for a few days. He is weaker now. Danny and Lynn has invited us to visit them at their camp on the Red Stone River. We had a good weekend away from it all.

This is a view of his camp.

After am evening of yapping and a couple of drinks, we had a really good breakfast of moose tenderloin compliments of Henry at the gate (see picture of his moose hanging) and Donna cooked up her egg and ham in her muffin tins. We later had some Champagne and orange juice to toast to the good times.

Everyone trying their hand at catching the big one.

We do not know who's line this fish was on but were gonna eat it anyways.

The morning after....mmmmmm....

Henry and his moose. He was generous and give us some tenderloin.

Oct. 6, 2007. Susie and Garfield and the girl's are here for Thanksgiving. It is so nice to see them but it's too bad it is raining for the whole weekend and I am busy in the kitchen.

What a beautiful family Susie has.

There is so much beautiful scenery here that it's a photographer's/painter's paradise.

In 1953 A.Y. Jackson, one of the founding members of the "Group of Seven", visited this site and painted "Spring on the Onaping River".

Two years later the painting was purchased by a group of students and placed in the Sudbury Secondary School. Shortly after Jackson's death in April of 1974 ,(1882-1974), the painting was stolen and has not been recovered.

Oct. 26, 2007. Denis caught this nice lake trout while visiting with Jim and Monique in their county home on Manitoulin Island. Nice weekend.

This is not a fish story.

Nov. 4, 2007. Denis has been out moose hunting on weekends with friends and he shot (with the camera) these 3 moose crossing the marsh. The calf, cow and bull. He was so excited.

December was  not a good month. Dad passed away and he is in our thoughts. He was so much in and out of our lives that you wish you could still pick up the phone and give him a call. He was always up to something.
Dec. 25th. 2007. We went back to Timmins and celebrated Christmas with Denis's family.

Just what I needed to add to my collection.

Ouuu...Auuu...

Is it done yet!!!

Now it's done...

Church plays are always fun...

Andre is making the best of it.........

HAPPY NEW YEAR....
